Are you struggling to find the best baby bottles to help manage your baby’s acid reflux symptoms?

Learning how to manage your baby’s acid reflux or gassiness can be difficult. It requires a lot of trial and error to determine what the right bottle is for your baby + how to manage their symptoms.

Some parents find that switching to a bottle made specifically for babies with acid reflux + colic tend to help. I’ve rounded up the top 15 baby bottles that may help to manage your baby’s acid reflux.

Let’s dive in!

What Is Acid Reflux?

Acid reflux – also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease – is just a fancy term to describe spit-up.

Spitting up is the result of your baby’s developing digestive system.

A small flap or valve-like muscle at the entrance to our stomach from our esophagus – the lower esophageal sphincter – is responsible for keeping the food + stomach acid in our stomach from entering back up into our throat.

When your baby is first born this muscle is very weak and loose. As your baby eats its belly fills with milk + air bubbles. These air bubbles can rise causing the milk and stomach contents to push back up and cue the spit-up.

Some babies develop heartburn which can cause a lot of fussiness and discomfort. Sometimes the air bubbles can become trapped in your baby’s stomach and cause uncomfortable gas.

How to Choose The Best Bottles That Can Help With Acid Reflux Symptoms

The main thing you want to look for when looking for a bottle that can help with your baby’s acid reflux is a bottle that will help reduce the air that your baby swallows while feeding. This can include features such as:

  • Internal Vent System – prevents air bubbles from combining with the milk
  • Angled Neck – helps the milk or formula flow more easily + encourages upright feeding
  • Nipple Size + Shape – size can help with the rate of flow + shape can help with your baby’s latch

Proper milk flow rate for your baby will slow down their feeds and reduce the amount of air they also swallow. A proper latch on the bottle’s nipple allows your baby to pull milk from the bottle at their own pace + reduces the amount of air they ingest.

#1: Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow Anti-Colic Baby Bottle

Dr. Brown’s baby bottles are the most popular bottles for managing infant acid reflux + often most recommended by pediatricians. The bottles have a removable anti-colic vent system that allows less air into the bottle.

What I Love About Them:

  • Anti-colic vent system
  • Flow rate mimics breastfeeding
  • Fits on most breast pumps
  • BPA-free
  • Dishwasher + sterilizer safe

Things To Consider:

  • Difficult to clean
  • Known to leak if you or your baby shake it around

#2: Comotomo Natural Feel Baby Bottle

The Comotomo baby bottle is another popular option among parents of babies with acid reflux + gas. They are also great for babies who are also breastfed – they tend to transition back + forth between this bottle + breast well!

These dual anti-colic vent bottles are made with quality materials + super durable, so they of course are on the pricier side of baby bottles. The price is 100% worth it if it helps your little one. They are easy to re-sale if they don’t work for your baby since a lot of parents use them!

What I Love About Them:

  • Dual anti-colic vents
  • Nipples are made of 100% medical-grade silicone
  • Slow flow nipple is great for newborns
  • Great for breastfed babies
  • Easy cleaning because of the wide neck – you don’t even need a bottle brush
  • Comes in 5oz or 8oz – grows with your baby
  • Dishwasher + sterilizer safe – heat resistant

Things To Consider:

  • More expensive option
  • Some moms report the vent occasionally dries shut
  • Measurement markings are difficult to see
  • Must be held almost vertically for baby to receive milk

#3: Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature Bottles

Tommee Tippee bottles are super similar to Dr. Brown’s bottles in design + another popular option. The removable anti-colic valve separates the air bubbles from your baby’s milk. The shape of the bottle is unique + allows for the bottle to be held in 3 different ways.

What I Love About Them:

  • Anti-colic valve
  • Slow flow breast-like nipple
  • Easy for you + your baby to hold due to its shape
  • Many different sizes to switch out as your baby grows
  • Easy-to-read measurements on the side of the bottle
  • Affordable
  • Comes in different colors + designs
  • BPA and phthalate-free

Things To Consider:

  • Only one type of nipple is included with each bottle
  • The vent leaks if it’s not facing the top or if it collapses
  • Vented nipples cost a bit more

#4: Philips Avent Classic Plus Anti Colic Bottle

Philips Avent Anti-Colic Bottles have an air-free, anti-colic valve system to help prevent your baby from swallowing any air while feeding. The vent is angled which makes it easier for you to hold onto while the nipple is still positioned ideally for your baby.

What I Love About Them:

  • Air-free, anti-colic valve system
  • Angeled vent
  • Easy to clean + assemble – vent is just one piece
  • Nipples don’t collapse – great for baby’s latch
  • Easy-to-read measurements
  • BPA-free

Things To Consider:

  • Not all Avent nipples fit this bottle
  • Angled vent must be angled correctly for your baby to receive a natural flow
  • No sealing ring, but little negative reviews about the bottle leaking

#5: Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle

The Philips Avent Natual Baby Bottle is my favorite bottle for breastfed babies with infant reflux. Besides the anti-colic vent system that has been clinically proven to reduce air intake, the slow flow nipple mimics the natural rhythm + flow similar to the breast.

What I Love About Them:

  • The clinically proven anti-colic vent system
  • Mimics the natural feeding rhythm + control similar to breastfeeding
  • Easy to put together
  • Easy to clean due to rounded corners + wide neck
  • Easier for your baby to grip
  • Affordable
  • Comes in different sizes – 4, 8, 9, and 11oz
  • Works with other Avent products – including glass bottles
  • Heats evenly

Things To Consider:

  • Some moms report that the nipples are harder than average bottles

#6: MAM Anti-Colic Baby Bottle

MAM Anti-Colic Bottles have a vented base that paces your baby by slowly releasing the milk to prevent your baby from drinking too fast and swallowing excess air.

They also have elongated, soft-skin nipples that mimic the shape and texture of mama’s nipples, so they are a great option for breastfed babies.

What I Love About Them:

  • Vented base
  • Elongated, soft-skin nipples
  • Slow-flow nipples – great for newborns
  • BPA-free
  • Easy to clean due to wide neck + vented base easily unscrews

Things To Consider:

  • A little bit on the expensive side
  • The wide bottom isn’t compatible with all bottle warmers
  • Difficult to see the measurements towards the bottom of the bottle

#7: Playtex Baby VentAire Bottle

Playtex’s VentAire bottles have an anti-colic valve on the bottom of the bottle that reduces the amount of air your baby swallows during feedings. The angled bottle shape promotes upright feeding + they have 3 different nipple types to find the perfect fit for your baby.

What I Love About Them:

  • Anti-colic vent
  • Angled bottle design – helps with reflux + ear infections
  • Wide-shaped, flexible nipple – good for breastfed babes
  • 3 different nipple types
  • Affordable
  • Comes in multiple different colors

Things To Consider:

  • The rubber piece has to be removed from the bottle to clean
  • Commonly leaks from the bottom of the bottle

#8: NUK Smooth Flow Anti-Colic Bottle

NUK makes a smooth flow anti-colic bottle that includes an anti-colic air vent – like most anti-colic bottles – to help reduce the amount of air your baby swallows. The thing that sets this bottle apart is it has a temperature indicator on the side to let you know when the bottle is too hot.

What I Love About Them:

  • Anti-colic air vent
  • Safe Temp Indicator
  • Easy to clean because it’s a wide-neck bottle
  • Dishwasher safe

Things To Consider:

Even though these bottles are considered “smooth flow” a lot of moms report the flow is still too fast for their newborns. I would recommend only trying this bottle is you have an older baby (2+ months).

#9: Evenflo Vented Plus Angled Bottles

These angled bottles by Evenflo use their Proflo Venting Technology to keep your baby from swallowing air while feeding therefore lowering the risk for acid reflux + gas. Their angled shape also promotes upright feeding which can be really beneficial for reflux babies.

What I Love About Them:

  • Proflo Venting Technology
  • Angled shape
  • Bottle grips are soft and comfy
  • Easy to clean + assemble – only 3 pieces
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Free from BPA, polycarbonate, PVC, and phthalates

Things To Consider:

Some moms report that the nipple and top can come off easily.

#10: Boon NURSH Silicone Pouch Baby Bottle

The Boon NURSH silicone pouch is the most unique on my list because unlike the other bottles there is no vent or valve that keeps air from mixing with your baby’s milk. The silicone pouch collapses as your baby drinks which decreases the amount of air in the bottle.

What I Love About Them:

  • Easy for breastfed babies to transition from pouch to breast
  • Easy to clean – don’t have to clean a vent system
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Affordable silicone bottle options
  • Durable
  • Plastic-free

Things To Consider:

  • Some leaking is common if the bottle collapses too much near the rim
  • Stiffer nipple than most bottles
  • Measurements can be hard to read

#11: Joovy Boob PP Baby Bottle

The Joovy Boob PP bottle is another great option for managing acid reflux symptoms – especially in breastfed babies. Hence, how it got the name “Boob.”

Not only does the bottle include a “Clean Flow” vent tab that allows the milk to smoothly flow from the bottle, but the nipples are also specifically designed for breastfed babies. Even if your baby doesn’t breastfeed, this ability for the bottle to mimic the breast helps with acid reflux.

What I Love About Them:

  • “Clean Flow” vent tab
  • Breastlike nipples – textured with special ribs
  • 5 different flow rates
  • Nipples aren’t known to collapse – good for baby’s latch
  • Super easy to clean + assemble – only 1 piece
  • Very durable – made from polypropylene (PP) so they don’t absorb colors or odors
  • Dishwasher + sterilizer safe

Things To Consider:

  • Expensive option

#12: Evenflo Vented Plus Bottles

Similar to the Evenflo Vented Angled Bottles, these bottles are a bit more classic in shape without the angled neck. They still include the 1-piece venting system to help reduce acid reflux symptoms + gas.

The nipple gradually transitions between nipple length and the base to allow your baby to get a latch and stay latched.

What I Love About Them:

  • 1-piece venting system
  • 100% silicone nipple
  • Easy for baby to maintain latch on the nipple
  • Lightweight and easy to hold
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Compatible with most standard breast pumps
  • Free from BOA, polycarbonates, PVC, + phthalates

Things To Consider:

  • Some moms report the slow flow nipples are really hard for baby to pull milk from – you can try a medium or fast flow nipple if this is the case
  • Can seem a bit flimsy or cheap – invest in the glass version if you want heavy duty

#13: Munchkin Latch Bottle

These latch bottles by Munchkin claim to be preferred 2 to 1 over Dr. Brown’s bottles. They are great for both breastfed babies + babies with acid reflux. The unique accordion nipple helps your baby transition back and forth between breast + bottle.

The Munchkin Latch bottle also includes an anti-colic valve on the bottom of the bottle that allows for the milk to flow while catching bubbles before they travel up to the nipple + into your baby’s tummy.

What I Love About Them:

  • An anti-colic valve at the bottom of the bottle
  • Accordion nipple stretches like mom’s nipple + allows for a great latch
  • Slow-flow nipple + 2 other flow rate nipples to use as your baby grows
  • Comes in two sizes – 4 or 8oz.
  • BPA-free
  • Dishwasher safe

Things To Consider:

  • 8oz bottles commonly leak, but I haven’t seen any negative comments on the 4oz leaking
  • Nipples occasionally collapse
  • Some moms don’t like how large they are

#14: NUK Simply Natural Bottles

NUK also makes another baby bottle that includes their 1-piece Anti-Colic Air Vent to help reduce colic, acid reflux, and gas in babies. The nipples closely mimic the shape on mom’s breast and why they are termed “natural” bottles.

What I Love About Them:

  • 1-piece anti-colic air vent
  • Natural, slow-flow feeding nipples
  • 3 different flow rate nipple options
  • NUK’s SafeTemp indicator

Things To Consider:

  • Nipples can be difficult to clean due to their shape

#15: Chicco NaturalFit Bottle

The Chicco NaturalFit Bottle has twin anti-colic valves on the side of the nipples that work to prevent a build-up of pressure. The tilted nipple shape helps the caregiver to hold the bottle at an angle that minimizes air bubbles from entering the nipple while feeding.

What I Love About Them:

  • Twin anti-colic valves
  • Tilted nipple shape
  • Easy for baby to hold

Things To Consider:

  • Some moms report leakage is common
  • Nipple flow may be too fast for some newborns

Tips for Bottle Feeding Your Baby With Acid Reflux

Along with purchasing the right baby bottle to help manage your baby’s acid reflux system, there are also ways you can bottle-feed your baby to reduce discomfort.

Here are some tips for bottle-feeding your baby with acid reflux:

  • Burp frequently – both during and after feeding
  • Position your baby + the bottle at an angle so there is always formula or breastmilk filling the nipple
  • Keep your baby upright for at least 15-20 minutes after feeding

My Top Picks

I know the list of 15 best baby bottles for acid reflux can seem a bit overwhelming, so I wanted to break down my top 2 choices + why I recommend them.

My son had acid reflux until he was about 3-4 months old, so I have personally gone through the struggle of trial and error when it comes to baby bottles. I also have worked with countless moms to help manage their baby’s acid reflux symptoms and have gotten to learn what often works for other babies too.

#1: Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle

I may be a bit biased about the Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle since this is what worked for our little guy, but I do find a lot of other parents have found success with them too. My son was breastfed and I found he transitioned between breast and this bottle best.

I love the shape and feel of the bottles’ nipple because it so closely resembles mama’s breast. The bottles are super easy to clean because they are wider bottles. I never had any issues with them leaking or the nipple collapsing.

They are also on the more affordable side of the anti-colic baby bottles that there are, so I believe they are a really good starting point.

#2: Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow Anti-Colic Baby Bottle

Dr. Brown’s bottles are usually always the first bottle I think of when I get asked for a recommendation on a baby bottle for acid reflux. There is a reason they are recommended by Pediatricians and so many parents use them – because they work for so many!

The anti-colic vent system they use in these bottles is really efficient at keeping the air out of the bottle + milk. The natural flow nipples work great to pace your baby + maintain a great latch.

Although the nipple isn’t what I would consider breastlike in shape or texture, breastfed babies do have a really good success rate in transitioning between this bottle + the breast. I think it’s likely due to the natural flow of the bottle’s nipple.

Let’s Wrap It Up – Best Baby Bottles for Acid Reflux

I’ve given you a ton of great baby bottle options to consider when thinking of bottles to try out with your little one. Remember this is a process of trial and error – as there is no exact answer or bottle that will work for every baby.

I recommend picking two options from the list – preferably ones that aren’t super similar – to try out with your baby first. You don’t need to go out and buy the most expensive ones on the list either. Most babies will do great on an affordable bottle option.
